Wolf Poem – Arial hunting

In Alaska where there are wide open spaces
And mushers have sled dog races.
It’s another day for a wolf like me
Running around, wild and free,

As I look for some elk to eat
I feel the ground shake under my feet,
The roaring sound of the oncoming plane
The noise, it’s loud, it’s driving me insane.

I hear a gunshot strike through the air
Why me? What have I done? It’s just not fair,
They come closer in their low-flying plane
They shoot again. I cry in pain.

I struggle. I whimper. I bite and I chew
Lying in my own blood, there’s nothing I can do,
They crowd around me with guns in my back
I hear gunshots again. Everything turns black.
I made this poem after I found out about Sarah Palin who is incouraging people to hunt wolves so that hunters have more elk and moose to hunt. She offers $150 for the left leg of a freshly killed wolf. She incourages arial hunting in which hunters shoot wolves by plain, mostly in winter when they've go no where to hide.

I think its terrible, Wolves are the most beautiful creatures on this planet. Why would anyone do this?

I do not belive in killing any animal without a valid reason to; but it should be done humanely. Animals suffer at the hands of some hunting situations.

But a wolf can't take down a healthy bull of either species.

... And what about caribou...? People aerial hunt them too... I love caribou, and though I understand hunting, I don't see why people are driven to foam and fang over them and nothing else...
